OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has not received an invitation to the G7 summit. This is how Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov responded to reports that Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky had offered to meet with Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the event, TASS reports.
"Of course it wasn't," Peskov replied when asked if the Russian leader had received an invitation through official channels.
The Kremlin representative recalled that Zelensky had been invited to Moscow for talks more than once. According to Peskov, such a step would demonstrate the serious and responsible attitude of the Ukrainian leader.
Earlier, Zelensky suggested that Putin hold a meeting at the G7 summit. According to him, the event may be a good opportunity to discuss a peaceful settlement between the two leaders in the presence of colleagues from the United States and the EU. The G7 summit is taking place on June 15-17 in Evian-les-Bains, France.
