OREANDA-NEWS  Companies from Russia are ready to participate in the modernization of Indonesia's transport infrastructure, including railways, the Russian Ministry of Transport has said.

The day before, the head of the Ministry of Transport, Andrey Nikitin, held a meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development of Indonesia, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono.

"Russian companies are ready to participate in a large-scale program to modernize Indonesia's transport infrastructure, including railways," the Ministry of Transport said in a statement.

According to the ministry, one of the key topics during the meeting was the development of air links between the two countries. "In 2025, passenger traffic on the Moscow – Denpasar (Bali) route increased almost fourfold, reaching 92 thousand people. In the first four months of this year, more than 33,000 passengers have already been transported, and cargo traffic has almost quadrupled, to 207,000 tons," the ministry noted.

It is specified that there are also prospects for increasing cargo turnover by sea. Thus, in the first three months, the volume of shipments between the countries exceeded 3 million tons, compared to almost 2 million tons in the same period a year earlier. "The sustainable development of container shipments through Russian ports was noted separately: in 2025, their volume amounted to 1,199 TEU," the Ministry of Transport concluded.
