OREANDA-NEWS The Nobel Committee has been unable to reach the Peace Prize laureate, former President of the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, Navi Pillay. This was announced by the representative of the organization Jorgen Watne Fridnes, The Guardian reports.

"If you receive a call from a Norwegian number, please respond. I look forward to the opportunity to talk with you in the near future," he addressed the laureate.

Earlier, the Nobel Committee announced that Pillay received the award "for her efforts to strengthen peace and international law." The organization noted that the Peace Prize winner emphasized the responsibility of both individuals and States for upholding the rule of law in all positions she holds.

In 2025, Maria Corina Machado, the leader of the Venezuelan opposition, became the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize. Shortly after the United States operation to capture Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, she handed over the award to US President Donald Trump.
