OREANDA-NEWS  The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has charged the head of the Bank of Russia Elvira Nabiullina. This was announced on Monday by the press service of the department.

"As a result of investigative and operational actions, the SBU collected evidence of the participation of the head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Elvira Nabiullina in financing the military groups of the aggressor country. It was she who organized the introduction of the ruble zone in the regions of the south and east of Ukraine," the service said in a statement published in the official Telegram channel.

In addition, the SBU noted, "the head of the Russian Central Bank assisted the local administrations of Russia in blocking the circulation of the hryvnia."

It is reported that Nabiullina has been charged under Part 3 of Article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine ("Deliberate actions committed by a representative of the authorities by prior agreement of a group of persons with the aim of changing the borders of the territory and the state border of Ukraine and violating the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine, resulting in the death of people and other grave consequences").

These are not the first such processes on the part of the Ukrainian authorities. In 2019, a Kiev court sentenced Svetlana Savchenko, a State Duma deputy, to 14 years in prison in absentia on charges of high treason for the reunification of Crimea with Russia. On December 23, 2022, a Ukrainian court issued a verdict in absentia against State Duma deputy Denis Maydanov for an alleged attempt on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.
