OREANDA-NEWS. The Russian Geographical Society reported that the ship Armenia, flooded by German aircraft in 1941, was found 15 miles from the Crimean coast.

The death of the ship is considered to be one of the largest marine disasters in history: according to various estimates, from 6 to 10 thousand refugees and wounded people were on board.

“At the bottom of the Black Sea, the ship Armenia, sunk by German aircraft on November 7, 1941, was found. For a detailed survey of an object located 15 nautical miles from the coast at a depth of 1,500 meters, an unmanned underwater vehicle… was used, which allowed to get the first video frames,” the release of the Russian Geographical Society reads.
