OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian two-stage Soyuz-5 launch vehicle was launched from the Baikonur cosmodrome. This was announced by the state corporation Roscosmos.

The launch took place on Thursday, April 30, at 21:00 Moscow time. It is specified that this is the first launch of a new generation rocket as part of flight design tests. "Soyuz-5 is a launch vehicle with the world's most powerful liquid—fueled rocket engine," the report says. The department noted that the first and second stages worked normally. The mock-up has been placed on a calculated suborbital trajectory.

In November, Roscosmos announced that Russia's new Soyuz-5 medium-heavy rocket had arrived at the Baikonur cosmodrome for its first launch.
The launch weight of the two-stage Soyuz—5 rocket is about 530 tons, length is 61.87 meters, diameter is 4.1 meters. The mass of the payload launched into low—Earth orbit from the Baikonur cosmodrome is about 18 tons.
