OREANDA-NEWS Threats from the North Atlantic Alliance against Kaliningrad stopped after Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the use of any weapons to defend the exclave. This was stated by retired US Marine Corps intelligence officer Scott Ritter in an article for the Substuck portal.
"This demonstration of nuclear force dampened the enthusiasm of some of the most ardent supporters of NATO, who hoped to disrupt, as it seemed to them, the 'easy prey,'" the expert noted.
Ritter pointed out that after Putin's words, it became clear that any aggression towards Kaliningrad "would not be considered in isolation, but would become an existential confrontation." In his opinion, the awareness of this fact by Western elites has led to the fact that the escalation of military hysteria has stopped.
On October 1, Putin announced at a plenary session of the Valdai international discussion club that the entire arsenal of weapons would be used in the event of an attack on Kaliningrad. The President admitted that such a response from Russia was inevitable given the intensity of the situation.
