OREANDA-NEWS   Following talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, US President Donald Trump announced that agreements had been reached to return the United States to its position as the leading supplier of oil and gas to the Asian country. This is reported by TASS.

Also, during a joint press conference with Modi, the head of the White House spoke about plans to work together to create one of the largest trade routes in history, passing through Israel and Italy. In addition, India has committed to reform its legislation to bring American nuclear technology to the country.

For Russia, after the embargo imposed by European countries on the purchase of Russian oil and petroleum products, which happened after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine, India, along with China, has become a key market for the supply of raw materials. In December last year, according to OPEC, Russian suppliers provided almost 40 percent of the country's total oil exports.

At the end of January, amid difficulties with oil supplies from Russia, Indian Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri spoke about the readiness of energy companies to increase the purchase of oil and gas from the United States. According to officials, the country will take advantage of Trump's desire to maximize production and export of raw materials.
