OREANDA-NEWS  The US authorities are preparing economic measures against Kyrgyzstan due to suspicions of circumvention of sanctions imposed against Russia. This is reported by The Washington Post (WP) with reference to American officials.

It is noted that in this way they want to force Kyrgyzstan to stop exporting sanctioned goods to Russia. "The administration of [American President Joe] Biden is preparing new economic measures to force the country to stop this trade," the article says.

According to the publication, before taking this step, American and European diplomats repeatedly visited Bishkek, but it did not bring results. It is clarified that Washington may publish the prepared measures as early as this week.

Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said that one of the priorities of the American leadership this year is to fight Russia's attempts to circumvent the sanctions imposed against it. According to her, Washington is stepping up efforts that have been made in recent months to stop violations.
