OREANDA-NEWS A strong earthquake has been recorded in the Philippines. This is reported by the local Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

Seismic tremors were observed at 10 a.m. local time (5 a.m. Moscow time) in the province of East Davao near the municipality of Baganga in the south of the republic. The magnitude was 6.4. The earthquake was located at a depth of 10 kilometers. There were no reports of casualties or damage.

Earlier, a powerful earthquake occurred in Papua New Guinea. Its magnitude was 5.3, and the epicenter was located 81 kilometers southeast of the city of Kimbe.

Tremors were felt in the Russian region the day before. An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 was recorded off the coast of the southern Kuril Islands. No tsunami threat has been announced in the region.
