OREANDA-NEWS. The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine opened a criminal case due to a special military operation by Russia, TASS reports, citing the department's social networks.

“Production is being investigated on the facts of encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine and the conduct of an aggressive war. Such actions have already led to serious consequences, including in the form of death and injury to military personnel and civilians, as well as damage and destruction of military and civilian infrastructure,” the statement said.

The department stressed that employees document all cases of the use of weapons by Russia.

“The necessary priority investigative actions are being carried out,” the Prosecutor General’s Office noted.

The special military operation in support of Donbass, which Russia launched on Thursday, is fully in line with international law. This was stated by the chairman of the State Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev.

“This morning, our Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Russian President Vladimir Putin, announced the launch of a special military operation in support of Donbass. This is a forced but necessary measure that is fully consistent with international law,” Piskarev told Gazeta.Ru.

He explained that citizens of Russia live in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, against whom "Ukraine has been conducting a virtual punitive operation for eight years now."

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin started a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
