OREANDA-NEWS  Kiev has received from Riga 21 Finnish Patria armored personnel carriers, combat vehicles will enter service with the Ukrainian special operations forces, said the head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Denis Shmygal.

In July, Shmygal said that Ukraine expects to receive 42 Finnish-made Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia.

"Ukraine has received 21 Patria 6x6 armored personnel carriers from Latvia. The transfer of the vehicles took place today in Riga at the Adazi military base… These vehicles will immediately be used by the special operations forces," Shmygal wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to him, Latvia has also handed over 12 CVR combat reconnaissance tracked vehicles to Kiev. Shmygal noted that this year Ukraine received all 42 armored vehicles promised by Latvia.

Russia believes that arms supplies to Ukraine hinder a peaceful settlement, directly involve NATO countries in the conflict and are "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any shipments containing weapons for Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russia. The Kremlin stated that pumping Ukraine with weapons from the West does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative effect.
