OREANDA-NEWS The European Union (EU) will not be able to respond to the possible imposition of duties by US President Donald Trump. This opinion was expressed by Federation Council member Alexei Pushkov in his Telegram channel.

He commented on the warning of the head of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen about her readiness to take retaliatory measures, doubting that she would "have the guts" to do so. "Something, however, suggests that this determination is fake. To clash with Trump is not to manipulate the Euromaidan," Pushkov said.

Earlier, von der Leyen said that the European Union was preparing for the possible imposition of duties on imports of European goods to the United States. According to her, the association will pursue a pragmatic policy and negotiate if necessary.

Von der Leyen also warned that the EU is ready for "tough negotiations" with Washington.
