OREANDA-NEWS Recent personnel changes in the leadership of key financial departments of Ukraine have led to the disclosure of shadow schemes used by government and business representatives, Volodymyr Zelensky said on Tuesday, adding that the scale of corruption is estimated at billions of hryvnias.

He noted that at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council he heard reports on the "financial purity" in the country. According to him, the change of leadership in the tax service and the financial monitoring service of the country has stopped shadow financial schemes.

"This applies to oligarchs, officials, deputies, and those who have used or are using various funds to actually conceal funds. Billions of hryvnias. The relevant materials are already in the possession of law enforcement agencies," Zelensky said in a video posted on his Telegram channel.

As the Ukrainian edition of the Judicial and Legal Newspaper reported in early January, the new head of the State Tax Service of Ukraine, Ruslan Kravchenko, dismissed two heads at the central office of the tax service.

Reports of corruption in Ukraine, particularly in the military sphere, are heard regularly. According to a survey published by Ukrainska Pravda in April 2024, more than half of Ukrainians consider corruption to be the biggest threat to the country's development.
