OREANDA-NEWS The onset of winter marked a new phase of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict. This was stated by the President of the Republic Vladimir Zelensky in an interview with the Associated Press (AP).

"Winter as a whole is a new phase," he said. It is expected that the cold season will complicate the fighting after the summer counteroffensive, which did not bring the desired results due to the constant shortage of weapons and ground forces. Zelensky said that it is not possible to achieve the desired results faster, however, "this does not mean that we should give up, that we should capitulate."

"We're losing people, I'm not happy. We didn't get all the weapons we wanted, I can't be satisfied, but I also can't complain too much," the Ukrainian president said. He also expressed fears that the conflict between Israel and Hamas threatens to overshadow the Ukrainian one.

Earlier, the American edition of The National Interest (TNI) wrote that the coming winter will be a serious test for the Ukrainian troops, as the cold weather will make it difficult to use equipment and weapons. It will be more difficult for the Ukrainian military to use drones and heavy equipment. They will also have to change the types of disguise and adjust the methods of training personnel, the material notes.
