OREANDA-NEWS. May 19, 2008. The service providers of Norway, Sweden Finland, Russia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia and Poland met in Estonia for the third Informal Regional Meeting. The purpose of the meeting was to share the information about the recent developments in the region, including NEAP and Baltic FAB initiatives as well as the processes in the Russian State ATM Corporation.

By sharing valuable information and experience of ongoing projects ANSP-s are able to optimise and facilitate the process of building FAB-s and avoid the hindrances encountered by neighbours.

The issue of Kaliningrad FIR was also discussed at the meeting. It is obvious that the peculiarity of this part of the Russian airspace, albeit considerably harmonised with the adjacent FIRs, is still an important factor to be considered in order to achieve more operational benefits in the Baltic FAB and to improve interfaces between adjacent FIRs.

The next round of discussions is going to take place in Gdansk, Poland, in September 2008. SES II package is on the agenda.
