OREANDA-NEWS. On June 03, 2008 Kazakhstan’s Minister of Economic Affairs and Budget Planning Mr. Bakhyt Sultanov met a delegation of German businessmen headed by Hamburg’s Senator for Economy and Labor Mr. Axel Gedaschko, reported the Official website http://en.government.kz.

B. Sultanov being the co-chairman of the Kazakh-German Working Group for Trade and Economic Cooperation discussed bilateral economic cooperation issues with the German delegation; in the course of the meeting he dwelt on attracting advanced German technology to the Kazakh economy sectors of prime importance.

A wide range of sectors for cooperation was presented to the German delegation, notably transport logistics, applied sciences, foodstuffs industry, pharmaceuticals, IT, and training of Kazakhstan’s workforce.

The German businessmen suggested launching a Kazakhstan-based branch of the Academy of Logistics to provide special training to local workforce and offered a special training course for healthcare workers at Hamburg medical institutions.

B. Sultanov expressed Kazakhstan’s readiness for mutually beneficial cooperation and informed the German side on measures taken to enhance the investment potential.

B. Sultanov briefed the German delegation on the Strategy of Innovation-Driven Industrial Development, Transport Strategy of Kazakhstan, as well as on opportunities offered to foreign investors by the 30 corporate leaders program.

Head of the German delegation Mr. Axel Gedaschko extended invitation to Mr. Sulanov to visit Hamburg to fine-tune further fruitful cooperation.

Germany is of the largest and promising external trade partners of Kazakhstan. According to the Kazakh Agency for Statistics, trade turnover between the two nations in 200 stood at USD 2.9 billion.
