OREANDA-NEWS. October 21, 2008. For nine months of 2008, 8 457 new cars or 59,9% (3167) more than at the same period of the last year and 13,1% (693 ) more than in 2007 were registered in Moldova.

The new cars are mainly sold through the official dealers of auto-producers and very insignificant part of them is imported by individuals.

According to the official data, for nine months of 2008, the top ten on sales includes: Lada (1427 cars– 16,9 %), Mistubishi (830 – 9,8 %), Dacia (808 – 9,6 %), Toyota (787 – 9,3 %), Skoda (437 – 5,2 %), Daewoo (369 – 4,4 %), Mazda (322 – 3,8 %), Hyundai (310 – 3,7 %), KIA (251 – 3 %), Nissan (245 – 2,9 %).

During this period the largest demand was registered for: SUV’s – 88 % (352 sold); SUV (Sub Urban Vehicle) or crossovers – 75 % (1763); pickups – 73 % (366); exclusive models – 68 % (59).

On the whole, the following models ranked the leaders: class A – Dacia Logan, Lada Samara, Lada 2107; class B – Mitsubishi Lancer, Skoda Octavia, KIA Ceed; class C – Mazda 6, Toyota Avensis, Skoda Superb; class SUV (crossover) – Lada Niva, Mitsubishi Outlander, Great Wall Hover; SUV’s class – Toyota Prado, Mitsubishi Pagero, Toyota Land Crouser; minivan class- Mitsubishi Grandis, Skoda Roomster and Mazda 5.
