OREANDA-NEWS The head of the Communists of Russia, Sergei Malinkovich, called on State Duma deputies to give up their salaries and reduce their pensions. This is reported by the "Paragraph".
"Let me remind you that in the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, a very small number of deputies worked on a salary. I think we need to return to this practice. I am not saying that it is necessary to deprive all deputies of their salaries. Some of them should still work there on a professional basis," he said.
The politician also noted that the pension of a parliamentarian should not be several times higher than the average in Russia. He cited as an example that 80-year-old labor veterans receive a monthly pension of 30,000 rubles, while deputies receive about 300,000. According to Malinkovich, the people's deputies need to raise the issue of reducing the difference in the calculation of pensions.
Earlier, State Duma deputy Irina Rodnina called on Russians to become independent on the issue of future pensions. She also noted that "a pension is not a salary, but an old—age benefit." In turn, the head of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Yaroslav Nilov, stressed that the pension is not a handout from the state, but "the person earned it."
