OREANDA-NEWS By the end of 2023, the incomes of Russians from entrepreneurship increased sharply and reached the level of 6 trillion rubles, demonstrating an increase of almost 25 percent, taking into account inflation. This is reported by RBC with reference to calculations by Svetlana Misikhina, Deputy Director of the HSE Development Center, and Rosstat data.

In nominal terms, the annual increase was 32 percent. The share of income from entrepreneurial activity by the end of 2023 reached a level of 6.8 percent of the total monetary income of the population. This figure was the highest since 2014, when their share was estimated at 7 percent.

For comparison, in 2021 and 2022, the share of business income was 5.7 percent. Thus, over the 12 months of last year, the indicator increased by 1.1 percentage points. Rosstat experts included cash receipts from the rental of property, profits of self-employed and individual entrepreneurs, royalties, as well as incentives for members of the boards of directors of companies in the income from entrepreneurship.

In mid-January, the Izvestia newspaper, citing data from the Federal Tax Service, reported that by the end of 2023, the number of entrepreneurs in Russia had increased by 378 thousand people. The increase turned out to be a record over the past 17 years. The rate of increase compared to 2022 was almost 10 percent.
