OREANDA-NEWS. The United States, within the framework of an international technical assistance project, allocated Ukraine $ 24.5 million to strengthen the borders with Russia and Belarus. A message about this appeared on the website of the State Border Service of the Republic.

According to the ministry, Kiev has already received the necessary tranche and will begin to develop it from January 2022. Most of the funds will go to strengthen the border units and provide them with an updated technical base.

“Modern means of video fixation and unmanned systems, individual protection of border guards, as well as ensuring their location in the field, reinforcement with transport and communication means - these are the needs that we have agreed with our strategic partners,” said the head of the service Sergei Deineko.

He added that in the future Ukraine may receive another $ 4.5 million from the United States for this purpose. They will be spent on the development of border infrastructure and the purchase of remote monitoring systems.

Earlier it became known that Ukraine has completed the construction of a 100-kilometer border fence in the Luhansk and Kharkiv regions. 15 CCTV cameras were installed on it, and four operational centers nearby. Also, the builders dug an anti-transport ditch and plowed a control-track strip.
