OREANDA-NEWS   Representatives of 30 foreign countries and 84 regions of Russia have registered to participate in the Kazan Marathon, which will be held on May 1-3 in the capital of Tatarstan.

According to the marathon's press service, this is a record high. However, registration has not been completed yet, and it will last until April 20.

Runners from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Germany, Turkey, Norway, Armenia, Malaysia, Georgia, Israel, Serbia, Finland, South Africa, Japan, the Philippines, Romania, Portugal, Puerto Rico, China, Spain, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil confirmed their participation a month before the start., Great Britain, Hungary, Morocco, Mexico, the Netherlands and Qatar.

In 2025, citizens of 20 countries, including Russia, participated in the race in Kazan.

"A year ago, we recorded 30,000 registrations two weeks before the launch, and this year – in almost 2 months. Running in Russia is gaining momentum, and the status of the marathon in the international arena is growing. This year we expect a Russian record from Vladimir Nikitin, who made his marathon debut in Kazan a year ago. We are grateful to our participants and will try to surprise and delight them," explained Vadim Yangirov, founder and director of the Kazan Marathon.

Last year, 32-time Russian track and field champion Vladimir Nikitin set five official Russian records - 10 km on the highway, 10,000 m in the stadium, twice in the half marathon and 15 km. At the half marathon, he covered the distance in less than an hour, which no one in Russia had previously been able to do. In 2026, Nikitin is preparing to update the national marathon record for the marathon distance.

The Kazan Marathon starts on Friday, May 1, with the TIMERKIDS (3-10 years old) and TIMERBABY (4-36 months old) children's races. The next day, the participants of the 10 km and 3 km races will start.

On May 3, the Russian Marathon Championship will be held for the fifth anniversary time as part of the Kazan Marathon.
