OREANDA-NEWS A drone crashed and exploded in the Mamzishkha Mountain forest in the Gagra region of Abkhazia, and there were no casualties, according to Abkhaz media, citing eyewitnesses.
The publications note that the explosion occurred near the first observation deck on Mount Mamzishkha.
According to media reports, employees of the State Security Service, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the republic arrived at the crash site. The found debris will be sent for examination to determine the type of UAV.
There have been no official reports from the republic's law enforcement agencies about the incident so far.
Earlier it was reported that the Psou checkpoint, located in the Gagra region on the border of Abkhazia with Russia, was temporarily closed due to the threat of a UAV attack in Sochi. Later, restrictions on crossing the Russian-Abkhaz border were lifted, and the checkpoint resumed its normal operation.
