OREANDA-NEWS  A unified biometric testing center (ECBI) is starting to operate in Moscow, where they will be engaged in research, piloting and evaluating solutions using video analytics, said Natalia Sergunina, Deputy Mayor of the city.

"Computer vision technologies are used in any modern metropolis. Moscow is actively studying best practices and implementing them to solve urban problems. The center will bring together leading experts and players of the Russian market in this field, which will improve the quality of services and expand the scope of their application," she said.

The organization is based on an agreement between the Moscow Department of Information Technology and the Russian Biometric Society non-profit partnership, for which this is not the first partnership project: in 2021, Moscow, together with the society, developed its own rating system for video analytics algorithms.

According to the deputy mayor, the new site plans to conduct scientific research, test and evaluate various products, as well as conduct an open dialogue with representatives of the business community.

Danila Nikolaev, Director of the Russian Biometric Society, head of the Technical Committee for Standardization TC 098 "Biometrics and Biomonitoring", said that the ECBI's feature is the openness of all ongoing processes. "It will develop testing programs and methods based on the requirements of national standards, test algorithms for various application scenarios, and then publish the results in the public domain. The launch of such a competence center is the most important step for the development of this IT field," he said.
