OREANDA-NEWS  French President Emmanuel Macron said that Europe is in a confrontation with Russia.

"In any case, we are in a confrontation with Russia," he said upon arrival at an informal EU summit in Copenhagen. The broadcast was carried out on the website of the European Commission.

Macron has falsely accused Russia of interfering in European elections, cyber attacks and recent violations of the airspace of several countries. Moscow has repeatedly denied all these accusations.

Earlier, the North Atlantic Council of NATO blamed Russia for incidents involving UAVs and aircraft in Poland, Estonia and other countries. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, stated that the leadership of the EU and NATO daily accuses Russia of provocations, without trying to present an argument. He also noted that unfounded accusations against Russia about its alleged involvement in drone incidents lead to the fact that new statements are not taken into account.

Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier explained in an interview with American journalist Tucker Carlson in detail that Moscow was not going to attack NATO countries, there was no point in that. The Russian leader noted that Western politicians regularly intimidate their population with an imaginary Russian threat in order to distract attention from internal problems, but "smart people understand perfectly well that this is fake."
