OREANDA-NEWS During the past day, divers collected and pulled ashore 253 bags of contaminated soil from the seabed in the village of Dzhemete in Anapa, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar Territory reported.

"In the village of Dzhemete, work continues on cleaning the seabed from petroleum products. On August 12, divers collected and brought ashore 253 bags of soiled soil in the pier area," the report says.

According to the regional operational headquarters, employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, Kuban-SPAS and the Maritime Rescue Service took part in the work.

On December 15, 2024, tankers Volgoneft-212 and Volgoneft-239 crashed in the Kerch Strait area during a storm. About 2,4 thousand tons of petroleum products got into the sea, a new fuel oil was released from a crack in the stern of one of the tankers in January, the bulk of the oil products were collected in three days. In early March, the dismantling of the stern of Volgoneft-239 at Cape Panagia was completed. The Black Sea coast of the Krasnodar Territory suffered from pollution.
