OREANDA-NEWS Snow removal operations in Moscow are organized around the clock, with priority attention being paid to cleaning approaches to bus stops, metro stations, railway platforms and social facilities, Deputy Mayor of the capital Pyotr Biryukov said on Friday.
According to him, which are posted on the telegram channel of the Moscow municipal economy complex, the maximum number of special equipment and manual cleaning teams are involved. "Additionally, the forces and equipment of urban engineering companies have been involved," he said.
The deputy mayor added that work on continuous mechanized sweeping and anti-icing of the roadway and sidewalks is carried out in a cyclical mode.
Biryukov recalled that heavy snowfall is accompanied by strong winds with gusts up to 18 m/s, therefore, emergency crews of engineering companies and prefectures of administrative districts are ready to respond to emergency situations.
Throughout the daylight hours, work will be organized to clear snow and ice from roofs, protruding elements of building facades, drainage gutters and funnels of drains, he noted.
According to the deputy mayor, the snowfall will last until the morning of January 10, the most intense precipitation will be today in the morning. He asked motorists to refrain from traveling by private transport in bad weather, if possible, and if this is not possible, be careful on the road, strictly observe the speed limit and distance, understand the work of public utilities and do not interfere with the movement of columns of equipment.
In turn, the Moscow Department of Transport reported on the difficult situation at the moment on the MKAD and flyovers, where heavy trucks cannot climb the hill and are stalling. "We kindly ask heavy truck drivers to plan trips based on the weather forecast and time, and not to overload their vehicles. Use winter truck tires - they will provide good grip on the road," he said in a message on his telegram channel.
