OREANDA-NEWS. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko sees no reason to postpone the presidential election due in 2020. He made such a statement on Tuesday at a meeting with the chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly, Natalia Kochanova.

"We’ll not hide it, it’s also political issues - the year of the presidential election. The biggest problem is the economy. Nevertheless, this issue will not go anywhere", said the head of state, quoted by a news agency. We need to not only discuss, but also to plan the presidential election. We still have no reason to postpone the presidential election, as some here prompt us. Political issues will not go away. It need to be discussed".

According to the calendar schedule, the presidential election should be held in Belarus in 2020. On August 30 of this year, Lukashenko’s presidential term expires.
