OREANDA-NEWS Navio has started integrating autonomous transport into the infrastructure of the smart district of Sberbank. As part of the project, a network of routes for self-driving cars is being created, which in the future can be scaled to other urban areas. The technology allows passengers to call transport on request to the nearest stop.
The Navio concept involves the use of autonomous cars. The introduction of technology in the early stages of smart city development helps to adapt it to the real needs of residents and improve road safety. Visitors to the Sberbank showroom can already test the ride, accompanied by an employee who talks about the development of the project.
In the future, the routes will be equipped with service stations and connected to the V2X (vehicle-to-everything) system, which will allow cars to receive additional information about the environment. Currently, the movement of highly automated vehicles (VATS) is allowed only under the experimental legal regime (EPR 2495).
Each autonomous vehicle is controlled by an engineer who is ready to take control in an emergency situation. According to the developers, this approach is especially in demand in areas with a high concentration of residential, business and social facilities, where traditional public transport is not always efficient.
