OREANDA-NEWS   Mikhail Murashko, the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, said that 480 thousand schoolchildren in the country suffer from obesity, RIA Novosti reports.

According to the Minister's calculations, the number of children prone to weight gain is quite large.

Speaking at a meeting of the Presidium of the Council of Legislators of the Russian Federation at the Federal Assembly, Murashko noted that the Center for Endocrinology was actively involved in the fight against obesity. According to him, good responses have already begun to arrive.

Prior to that, Lyudmila Sumina, the head of the social and psychological service of Barnaul Lyceum No. 73, said that obesity among schoolchildren in Russia occurs due to stress before the Unified State Exam (USE).

The expert stressed that it is important for students to replace negative attitudes with positive ones in order to avoid stress, which leads to weight problems. She advised parents to encourage teenagers before crucial stages.
