OREANDA-NEWS Part of the Russian liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies will be redirected to China, India, Thailand and the Philippines, instead of sending this energy carrier to Europe. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak. He was quoted by TASS.
According to him, Russian companies will do so without waiting for the authorities of the European Union to resort to further restrictions. Novak explained that LNG will go to the markets of those countries that need it and with which Moscow is building constructive and pragmatic relations. In addition, we are talking about buyers who have long-term demand and are ready to enter into long-term contracts.
Earlier, Igor Yushkov, an expert from the Financial University under the Government of Russia and the National Energy Security Fund, published a forecast on the reorientation of Russian LNG to the Asian market. Speaking about the problems of the EU, which is faced with soaring gas prices amid the cessation of supplies from Qatar, he said that there are "no risks" for Russia in this situation.
