OREANDA-NEWS. Ukraine deliberately creates conditions for the deterioration of the environmental situation in Crimea, Vladimir Ustinov, the presidential envoy to the Southern Federal District, said on Thursday.

"These regions of the district have come face to face with foreign policy pressure from Ukraine, which deliberately creates conditions for the deterioration of the environmental situation on the Crimean peninsula," Ustinov stated at a meeting in Maikop with the participation of Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev.

Therefore, he continued, in the current "rather difficult" situation with water supply, it is necessary to ensure the maximum possible environmental control over the measures that are urgently taken to provide people with water.

At the end of May, the head of Crimea, Sergei Aksenov, said that the worst moment with the water supply to the peninsula had passed. According to him, the situation will only get better in the future.

As Aksenov added, the situation with the supply of drinking water has stabilized in Simferopol and Yalta - there water is not supplied only at night. Soon, as the politician pointed out, the problem in Alushta will have to be resolved, for this the Solnechnogorsk reservoir will be created for 8 million cubic meters, it is expected that it will be filled with water from the Dzhur-Dzhur waterfall.

In addition, Aksenov drew attention to the decision of Ukraine to cut off water to residents of the peninsula and called it an ecocide.

On May 22, Ukrinform, with reference to the press secretary of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Oleg Nikolenko, reported that the implementation of water supplies to Crimea is possible only if it is “demilitarized and de-occupied”.

In response, the head of the working group on international legal issues at the permanent representation of Crimea under the President of the Russian Federation, Alexander Molokhov, said that the conditions put forward by representatives of the Kiev authorities were outrageous.
