OREANDA-NEWS  Russian President Vladimir Putin has awarded outstanding director Nikita Mikhalkov the Order of St. Andrew the First-Called. This became known from the relevant document published on the portal of legal acts.

According to the information provided in the award document, Mikhalkov was awarded "for outstanding services to the development of Russian culture and cinema, as well as many years of fruitful public activity."

The head of state also sent a telegram to the director and the Oscar winner, congratulating him on his 80th birthday. Putin wished Mikhalkov good health and success.

Earlier it became known that the outstanding Russian director and actor Nikita Mikhalkov celebrated his anniversary.
