OREANDA-NEWS Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law allowing Russian banks to remotely identify a customer when opening an account (deposit) under an experimental legal regime. The relevant document is posted on the official publication portal of legal acts.

The document provides an opportunity for the Bank of Russia to establish an EPR that allows credit institutions to carry out identification remotely, that is, without the personal presence of the client or his representative. At the same time, the Central Bank's regulatory act on the establishment of such a regime and its program must be coordinated with Rosfinmonitoring, the FSB, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Finance.

Previously, the law on countering Money Laundering and Financing of terrorism (115-FZ) required the personal presence of an individual or his representative when opening a bank account (deposit). In practice, this created additional difficulties for the client.
