OREANDA-NEWS  Russia will help Abkhazia to purchase electricity metering devices to ensure efficient operation of the Abkhazian power grids, said Sergey Kiriyenko, First Deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.

"(There will be) financial support from Russia for the possibility of purchasing metering devices in order to build efficient operation of energy networks. Energy, in my opinion, is the biggest challenge. This is a problem for people, and it is also a constraint in terms of business development and investment. Therefore, this support is also provided," Kiriyenko said. His words are quoted on a video posted on the Sputnik Abkhazia Telegram channel.

On Thursday, the President of Abkhazia, Badra Gunba, discussed with Kiriyenko the critical losses in the republic's electricity grids that require urgent solutions, as well as the modernization of the grid facilities, the press service of the head of the republic reported.
