OREANDA-NEWS The West uses the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, as a pawn in its interests. This was announced on March 1 by Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Bashar Jaafari.

"My personal opinion is that Zelensky does not come from a traditional political institution... Zelensky is being used as a pawn of the West in strategic interests and is now undermining his reputation by being drawn into a conflict with Russia. In this vein, we heard his call to exclude Russia from the UN Security Council, as if we were in an animated film," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Jaafari added that in a world in which Russia and China would not be in the UN Security Council, there would be much more armed conflicts. After all, this organization was created on the principles of international understanding after the Second World War.

On the eve of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova expressed the view that the Ukrainian authorities delegitimized themselves by losing control over the situation in the country.

On February 24, the Russian leader announced a special operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass. After that, Zelensky accused the Russian Federation of hitting the country's military infrastructure and imposed martial law on the entire territory of the state, and also announced that Kiev had severed diplomatic relations with Moscow and recalled Ukrainian diplomats from the embassy.
