OREANDA-NEWS  Muscovites, as part of a vote on the Active Citizen platform, defined the concept of a book house, the former building of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance (COMECON), choosing the option of preserving this facility. This is reported on the website of the Moscow City Hall.

It is specified that more than 178 thousand residents of Moscow took part in the voting. Thus, more than 46 percent of respondents chose a project that involves preserving the famous book house and creating a new architectural landmark.

The message emphasizes that the facility will be complemented by a skyscraper that resembles a scroll. Offices will be located in the multifunctional cluster. In addition, it will create a commercial, business, and gastronomic infrastructure.

For a long time, the book house was used as an office, and for more than 30 years it was occupied by the Moscow City Hall. In October 2024, the building was declared an emergency. Repairs turned out to be more expensive than new construction, so it was decided to carry out a comprehensive reconstruction. The investor was the Kievskaya Ploshchad company, which plans to build a socio-cultural cluster on the site, including both residential and public facilities.
