OREANDA-NEWS Coffee prices in Russia will not fall in the coming year. Ramaz Chanturia, head of the Russian Coffee Association, named the conditions for reducing the cost of the drink to NSN.
According to the expert, coffee is becoming more expensive all over the world and there are several reasons for this. Due to economic growth in Southeast Asia, China, Indonesia, and the Philippines, beverage consumption has increased, which has increased demand from manufacturers. Grain processing, which is carried out in Russia, has also increased in price — this was influenced by energy tariffs, inflation, rising wages, the cost of servicing loans, and the process of preparing for the introduction of mandatory labeling.
There is no reason to talk about a significant change in the trend of coffee consumption in the country, as long as demand remains high. In the coming year, prices for the drink will not fall — for this, coffee prices on world markets must fall sharply, and the ruble-dollar exchange rate must be consistently strong.
"We need to strive to reduce the refinancing rate, because it affects the cost of loans used by manufacturers. If we manage to delay the introduction of mandatory labeling for several months, it will also have a certain stabilizing effect, because manufacturers will not have to urgently seek funds," Chanturia added.
According to Rosstat, the cost of a kilogram of instant coffee rose above four thousand rubles in Russia in September. Against the background of rising global prices for raw materials (arabica rose in price by one and a half times over the past year, and cheaper robusta by 1.4 times in three months) and US duties, the indicator continued to increase last month, rising to 4006 rubles from August 3988.
