OREANDA-NEWS Long-range Tu-22M3 bombers of the Russian Aerospace Forces performed a planned flight in the airspace over the neutral waters of the Baltic Sea, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"The flight duration was more than 5 hours. At some stages of the route, long-range bombers were escorted by fighters from foreign countries," the military department said on Wednesday.

They said that the fighter escort was carried out by Su-35 and Su-27 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

"Long-range aviation crews regularly fly over the neutral waters of the Arctic, North Atlantic, Pacific Ocean, Baltic and Black Seas. All flights of the Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft are carried out in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
