OREANDA-NEWS  The Russian Security Council expressed concern about the escalation on the Afghan-Pakistani border and called on the parties to resolve the situation as soon as possible through political and diplomatic means, the press service of the Russian Security Council said on Friday.

"We are concerned about the dangerous escalation on the Afghan-Pakistani border. We call on the parties to resolve the existing contradictions as soon as possible through political and diplomatic means," the message says.

"This round of tension has become a consequence of the pernicious colonial policy of England and the arbitrarily drawn borders in London," the press service said.

"Today, at a time when the British are trying to create new dividing lines in the world, London's imperial ambitions must be put to an end," the statement said.

Earlier, Pakistani Defense Minister Khawaja Asif announced the beginning of an open confrontation between the parties.

On February 26, the Afghan command announced that it had launched strikes against Pakistan in response to its recent airstrikes. On Sunday, Islamabad attacked the border regions of Afghanistan. At least 70 members of armed groups have been killed, according to Pakistani officials. Kabul rejected this statement, according to him, dozens of civilians, including women and children, were killed.
