OREANDA-NEWS The United States demands that the Lebanese authorities commit to disarming the Shiite Hezbollah group in order to resume dialogue on the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the country. This is reported by the Reuters news agency.

"Washington is increasing pressure on Beirut, demanding that it quickly adopt an official cabinet decision on the disarmament of Hezbollah, after which negotiations on ending Israeli military operations in Lebanon can resume," the statement said.

According to sources, the United States will no longer send its envoy Thomas Barrack to Beirut for talks. They will also stop putting pressure on Israel until the Lebanese authorities agree to this demand.

Earlier it became known that the United States is putting pressure on Lebanon in order to persuade the country to sign a peace agreement with Israel in the coming months.
