OREANDA-NEWS  The magnetic storm on Earth, which was caused by a large coronal hole in the Sun, has subsided so far. This was reported at the Institute of Applied Geophysics, TASS reports.

According to scientists, the disturbance of the Earth's magnetic field has been at the "calm" level for several hours. At the same time, only weak magnetic storms have been recorded over the past 24 hours.

On Monday, September 15, the strongest magnetic storm in three months hit the Earth. The level of magnetic fluctuations in the morning was close to G3 (severe storm), then decreased to a level close to G2.

The disturbances were recorded against the background of a noticeable increase in the speed of the solar wind as a result of the planet entering the zone of action of a large coronal hole. Scientists then noted that the event was generally predicted long before the onset, but the force of the storm was unexpected and significantly exceeded all calculations. Experts expected that the deterioration of the geomagnetic situation would last 4-6 days.
