OREANDA-NEWS Chinese President Xi Jinping traveled to Moscow to participate in celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. This is reported by the Chinese Xinhua news agency.

"Xi Jinping flew from Beijing to Moscow on a state visit to Russia to take part in the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War," the publication says.

Earlier it became known that Serbian President Alexander Vucic flew to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations. Additionally, it is reported that Lithuania and Latvia have banned the Serbian leader's flight through their territory on the way to Russia.

On April 30, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow attaches great importance to Xi Jinping's arrival and is preparing for it. The Kremlin's official representative added that a "very significant number" of heads of state would attend the Victory Day events, which would be celebrated together with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
