OREANDA-NEWS. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law on the confiscation of assets of citizens who supported Russia's special operation in Ukraine, TASS reports with reference to Zelensky's office. The new law is called "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine on Improving the Effectiveness of Sanctions Related to the Assets of Individuals." It was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on May 12, 2022.

The procedure for identifying and confiscating the assets of sanctioned persons, one way or another supporting the aggression of the occupiers against Ukraine, will quickly and effectively replenish the Ukrainian budget at the expense of enemies.

Initially, the law was adopted on April 21, but some amendments were made to it, after which it was signed by the President of Ukraine.

The day before, the Verkhovna Rada banned the use of the symbols Z and V. Ukrainian deputies approved a law providing for punishment for the use of not only Latin letters separately, but also for the Cyrillic replacement with the letters З, С, В, Ф. The Russian Ministry of Defense previously stated that the letters Z and V they are not official military symbols and do not carry a special load, however, they are positively perceived by the military personnel of the Russian Federation, LPR and DPR.
