OREANDA-NEWS The "Alfa Bank" application on the iOS platform was unavailable for downloading and updating in the App Store. If you follow a link from the bank's website to download the app, a message appears saying that "the app is not available in your country or region," according to the RBC story.

This is not the first bank to suffer such a fate. Since April 12, the mobile application "Sberbank Online" on the iOS platform in connection with the sanctions of Western countries has been removed from the App Store.

Sberbank will continue to work in normal mode, they said. The company specified that the system has already adapted to the restrictions and assured that the new measures will not affect customer service.

Alfa Bank is the largest private bank in Russia, occupying the fourth place in terms of assets. At the end of 2021 the number of private clients has grown to 22 million and the number of corporate clients has exceeded 1 million.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed blocking sanctions against Sber and Alfa Bank as part of the restrictions imposed on the Russian economy because of the special operation in Ukraine. The restrictions imposed mean the freezing of the assets of these credit institutions in the U.S. and a complete ban for U.S. residents to do business with them.
