OREANDA-NEWS Representatives of the Russian club Virtus.pro spoke out against discrimination of Russian citizens in esports, including those who perform as part of foreign teams. In Virtus.pro they added that «individual activists are conducting a campaign» to boycott participants from the Russian Federation, both individual professionals and entire teams, writes Russian media NEWS.ru.

«The international competitive scene becomes almost inaccessible to players [from Russia], and streamers are simply fired. Our club is represented by guys from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Latvia, while nationality does not matter to us, abilities and desire to achieve goals together are important to us. Virtus.pro opposes discrimination promoted by our colleagues, and offers the opportunity to continue a professional career to players and streamers whose citizenship has served as a reason for reducing or infringing on their rights», added in Virtus.pro.

They stressed that they would consider every letter from esports players with statements about discrimination on the basis of citizenship. The club also stated that there are already more than 100 such appeals.

«Not only players and streamers are under attack, but also employees of foreign organizations with Russian citizenship. Therefore, we hope that other Russian or international clubs that do not approve of discrimination will support our initiative. We feel that we are doing the right thing», summed up in Virtus.pro.
