OREANDA-NEWS Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered an ultimatum to German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, demanding to cut off all ties with Russia, RIA Novosti reports.

“Scholz and his government must make a decision: there should be no attempt to maintain a balance in relations between Ukraine and Russia,” Zelensky said.

He reproached the German government that it began to help Ukraine with weapons much later than the United States, Great Britain, Poland and the Baltic countries.

Zelensky also said ahead of Scholz's visit to Kyiv that the German chancellor should not "limit himself to photographs" but should take part in discussions about Ukraine's status in the EU and increased military support.

Earlier, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany would supply Ukraine with more weapons.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect the Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
