OREANDA-NEWSFor the nine months of 2019, a Chinese tourist in Moscow made an average purchase of 24.6 thousand rubles, analysts at Sendy payment system and IT company Evotor calculated. Both are providers of Chinese payment services WeChat Pay and Alipay in Russian stores.

Expenses through these payment systems in other Russian cities are expectedly lower than in the capital. The average check of WeChat users in St. Petersburg is 19.9 thousand rubles, in Vladivostok - 13.6 thousand rubles, Khabarovsk - 12.4 thousand rubles, Yekaterinburg - 10.8 thousand rubles, Blagoveshchensk - 9, 5 thousand rubles, Novosibirsk - 8.8 thousand rubles.

Studying checks, analysts came to the conclusion that amber and cosmetics are the most popular goods for Chinese tourists. Together, they account for 30% of all purchases in Russian stores using Chinese payment applications. The five most expensive product categories also include jewelry (12%), souvenirs (8%), alcohol (6%) and chocolate (5%). The booming interest in amber is shown by Chinese tourists not only when shopping.
