OREANDA-NEWS. The famous French singer Mireille Mathieu celebrates her jubilee birthday, TASS reports. She turns 75 on Thursday 22 July.

The actress first appeared on the stage more than half a century ago, her album circulation exceeds two hundred million copies.

Already at the age of 20, Mathieu has gained deafening popularity in France. And a year later, as part of the French music hall, she performed for the first time in the USSR.

Mireille Mathieu enjoys immense popularity among the Russian public. The singer pays for this with reciprocal love for the country, Russian culture, Russian viewers, and the Russian language. She took part in assemblies held by the Russkiy Mir Foundation.

It is no coincidence that the Pushkin Institute endowed her with the title of Ambassador of the Russian language. According to the artist, she is very proud of him.

Mireille Mathieu noted that she considers the Russian language a symbol of the Russian soul. When songs are played in Russian, they cause a special excitement in the audience, even if the audience does not understand the words. The artist is sure that this is the special strength of the Russian language.

Museums, including the Hermitage and the Moscow Kremlin Museums, evoke great admiration. And Red Square and St. Basil's Cathedral are as world famous as the Eiffel Tower.

The singer confessed her love for the Russian people, which has continued for many years. She also invited viewers to concerts scheduled for the fall. If the epidemiological situation does not interfere, Mireille Mathieu should perform in Moscow on November 3, and in St. Petersburg the next day.
