OREANDA-NEWSThe Japanese government intends to further coordinate the timing of the deferred pilot trip of Japanese tourists to the southern part of the Kuril Islands so that it takes place at the end of October. This was announced at a press conference in Tokyo on Wednesday by Secretary General of the Cabinet of Ministers Yoshihide Suga.

Suga also stressed that the implementation of projects in the framework of joint economic activities is directly related to solving the problem of a peace treaty between the Russian Federation and Japan. As noted by the Japan News Agency with reference to government sources, the period from the end of October to November 5 is considered as the new dates for the tour.

The Federal Tourism Agency on August 15 reported that after the pilot tour next year it is planned to launch regular tourist trips for the Japanese to the Kuril Islands. This program, as noted in the department, should contribute to the development of inbound tourism in the Russian Federation and will contribute to the achievement of the previously set goal to bring the mutual tourist flow between Japan and Russia to 400 thousand people by 2023.
